Stress 'causing managers to work when on holiday'

Stress causing managers to work when on holiday 2209

Stress at work is causing more than a quarter of all business managers to miss out on quality time with their families while on holiday, new research has shown.

According to a study conducted by Bibby Financial Services, 1.1 million company owners feel under so much pressure at all times to make sure their organisation is running smoothly that they will have to complete some professional tasks even when they are supposed to be taking a break.

Some ten per cent indicated they either take phone calls or check their emails every two hours during their summer holiday as they simply cannot switch off.

Edward Rimmer, chief executive of Bibby, commented: "The pressures on business owners are such that even at this point in the middle of holiday season, we can see just how many continue to work."

This comes after Kevin Friery of Right Corecare stated that young male professionals are the least likely group to ask for help when they feel stresses at their job.
