Compensation to be sought following horrific accident at work 2207

A horrific accident at work that resulted in an electrician suffering serious injuries could lead to him pursuing compensation.

Gareth Durrant sustained severe damage to his intestines and bowel when a pressurised air line entered his body through his rectum and "inflated" him like a balloon as he operated at a factory owned by the Willerby Holiday Homes - a firm established in 1946 - in Hull in July 2010.

At the time of this incident, the 26-year-old was working on a caravan while the machine - which carries air at a pressure of around 300 pounds per square inch - was being used by colleagues behind him.

It has not yet been established how the equipment came into contact with the professional, but a hearing into the accident is to get underway shortly in order to establish if he is eligible to seek damages.

"It felt like I had been blown up ... I just can't put in to words how painful it was," Mr Durrant commented.
