Tourists Claim for Holiday Food Poisoning in Spain

Compensation sought by family for food poisoning 2197

Personal injury compensation is being sought by a family after they contracted food poisoning while on holiday in Turkey.

According to the Basingstoke Gazette, Jason and Denise Waite and their two children Jake and Matthew visited Turkey on an all-inclusive two-week trip in September 2008 to attend the wedding of some family friends.

However, they were all affected by a stomach bug for the duration of their stay at the Holiday Village in the resort of Sarigerme and are consequently seeking food poisoning compensation for their ordeal from tour operator Thomas Cook.

Mrs Waite told the news source that Jake, now aged four, was ill for a period of around six weeks after he "went off his food and started to have diarrhoea".

Upon visiting the doctor when they arrived back in the UK, the child was diagnosed with Salmonella and the medical professional informed the rest of the family they were likely to have contracted the illness too.

This comes after the Sheffield Star reported that the Hancock family are seeking damages after falling ill from food poisoning on holiday in Mallorca, Spain.
