Pensioner seeking compensation for head injury

A pensioner is pursuing compensation after an accident on a bus last year left her with various injuries.

According to online resource North Wales Weekly News, Phyllis Edwards sustained a head injury, as well as afflictions to her neck and shoulder, when she fell over on a public transport vehicle in North Wales in November 2010.

The 69-year-old was holding on to a faulty safety strap which broke as the vehicle performed an emergency stop, the news source explained.

Ms Edwards now also claims she suffers from a form of post-traumatic stress disorder and is pursuing a claim for damages from Arriva after not receiving an official letter of apology from the company.

"I'm on very strong painkillers which make me drowsy all the time and I'm waiting to go into hospital to have an epidural," she added.

Earlier this year, Doreen Taylor - who suffered a head injury in a similar incident to Ms Edwards' in Birmingham in 2009 - was awarded compensation of £25,000.
