According to STV, the 31-year-old traveller was knocked off his vehicle in a collision with a car on Tuesday (June 28th) evening in Aberdeen and also sustained a fracture to his leg, as well as a head injury.
He required treatment for his ordeal at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - an institution managed by NHS Grampian - and could therefore decide to seek damages when an investigation into the incident is complete.
Meanwhile, on the same night, a 66-year-old man also had to attend the same hospital after an incident in which he sustained minor injuries following a similar collision.
This prompted chief inspector Ian Wallace of Grampian Police to urge both drivers and cyclists to "maintain awareness" while on the road to avoid accidents.
"Cyclists can help themselves by making sure they ride appropriately and make use of safety equipment and clothing," he added.
