According to the Birmingham Mail, Jane Stables had to spend two months in hospital after suffering fractures to her legs, neck and pelvis when the private hire taxi she was travelling in crashed after a night out in Solihull, a town situated around ten miles from Birmingham.
The 49-year-old's injuries were caused by the negligence of the vehicle's driver, who was going too fast as well as talking on a mobile phone, a subsequent court case ruled, meaning she may opt to seek civil damages for her ordeal.
Mrs Stables told the news source she recalls none of the incident, although does now suffer from a form of post-traumatic stress disorder.
"I'm trying to be strong and cope but every day I wake up and think about it. It has impacted my life in a big way," she added.
