Driver may seek whiplash damages

A motorist could decide to pursue personal injury compensation after a road traffic accident left them nursing a head injury and whiplash.

According to the Mansfield Chad, a driver required medical attention at Kings Mill Hospital - managed by the Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust, which also runs the Newark Hospital - for minor complaints after their car was hit by another vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the road near Mansfield in February.

It is believed that a silver Fiat Brava also hit two other vehicles in the evening of February 26th 2011 and police are therefore appealing for witnesses to track down the driver of this car.

Should the motorist be found, he could face a claim for damages from the injured party.

PC Stewart Carr, investigating officer, told the news source: "Whoever was at the wheel of the Fiat was not only driving dangerously but clearly had no regard for the safety of other road users."
