Repairman fractured bones in fall accident at work

Broken bones to lead to damages claim

A vehicle repairman was injured suffering broken bones in a workplace accident.

38 Year old Douglas Mowat sustained a fractured elbow and a heavily bruised shoulder when he fell from a cage that was balanced on a forklift truck, at the depot of Vincent Car Sales in Somerset.

At the time of the accident Mr Mowat was working on a high-sided lorry but he had not been provided with sufficient equipment with which to complete the task, and therefore he decided to use a self-made platform.

He fell to the ground suffering multiple injuries and he continues to suffer from pain in his shoulder and back.

It has since been decided that the Vincent Car Sales, which is now in administration, had breached Health and Safety Regulations meaning that Mr Mowat can claim compensation from the Employers' Liability insurance company that covered the firm for work accident injuries at the time of the accident.

In other news, a construction company has recently been penalised after an employee fell six metres down a lift shaft while working.
