According to the Sheffield Star, Janet Streets had to stay in hospital for five days after returning home from a two-week break in Egypt with her husband David that was supposed to be in celebration of his 50th birthday.
The couple stayed at the Sol Y Mar Sea Star hotel in Taba - a small coastal town located on the border with Israel - and claim they had to endure dirty rooms and undercooked food throughout their visit.
While Janet was worse affected, her husband also suffered a stomach upset upon returning to Britain.
Consequently, the couple are now taking legal action against tour operator TUI UK for this ordeal.
Ms Streets commented: "I felt dreadful and even now I have not fully recovered. We wish we had never gone on that holiday. It did more harm than good."
