Roofer to seek damages after accident at work 2349

Serious injuries sustained during an accident at work could lead to a roofer seeking a compensation settlement.

Jeremy Bishop suffered severe afflictions to his head, back and chest when he fell a distance of around five metres from scaffolding as he worked on a project to re-roof a house in Essex in January 2010.

Mr Bishop had to spend three weeks in intensive care at the Royal London Hospital before he was then moved to a specialist spinal injuries unit for an eight-month period of intensive rehabilitation.

Three contractors - V Page Building Services, Quality Roofs and Access Specialists - have been punished for breaking regulations and an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive has established that the necessary guardrails were not up on the scaffolding.

Recently, it emerged that Anthony Stock suffered a broken back during an accident that occurred while he worked for Cambs Compressor Engineering in Sutton.
