Males under stress at work 'more likely to suffer a stroke'

Male professionals feeling under stress at work are considerably more likely to suffer a stroke than people without such problems, a new study has found.

According to research conducted in Denmark, individuals with a strong educational background, a high social status and a senior position within their company are 1.4 times more susceptible to a stroke than others if they are under consistent strain, the Daily Mail reports.

The study - which has been published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine - also revealed that younger men in such roles are at a higher risk than other groups as they are likely to encounter stress throughout a longer period of their career.

However, for individuals in lower positions within a company, there was no link at all between anxiety and them suffering a stroke.

Recently, research by Canada Life Group Insurance found that 47 per cent of professionals feel under more strain in their jobs now than they did at the same time last year.
