According to the Daily Telegraph, authorities in France are calling in all females who have undergone surgery involving Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) products to have them removed and replaced.
This is because the implants have been found to contain industrial silicone and are therefore in breach of health and safety regulations and could burst and leak.
Some 45,000 females from the UK are known to have had surgery involving PIP and these women are now being advised by experts to consider having them taken out sooner rather than later to avoid any potential problems in the future.
Douglas McGeorge of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons - a body established in1982 - commented: "I would probably get them changed for peace of mind, but it is not an emergency, it can be done at leisure."
