Daniel Elliot suffered two fractures to his spine, as well as a broken pelvis and an arm injury, when he fell a distance of around 5.5 metres from a roof at a farm in Wales while working for Towy Valley Fabrications.
The 24-year-old was helping his boss construct a new pitched surface between existing buildings at the premises in Camarthenshire and accidentally stepped through a fragile skylight.
An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) established that manager Anthony Daniel failed to provide his employee with sufficient training before asking him to complete such a dangerous task.
Phil Nicolle of the HSE commented: "He employed an inexperienced worker and exposed him over the course of several days."
This comes after an unnamed 36-year-old man suffered a broken pelvis in a fall from height at work in Shropshire.
