A back injury suffered in an accident at work could lead to a man pursuing a claim for compensation from his employer.
Peter Sherwood sustained a fractured vertebrae in the lower part of his spine when he fell from an unsecured ladder while carrying cladding boards at a factory owned by Crown Chicken - a firm based in Norwich - in Diss in July last year.
The 61-year-old was helping another employee complete this task but it was later found that a proper risk assessment had not been carried out by his bosses at the premises.
As a result of his injuries, Mr Sherwood was off work for six months and had to wear a back brace.
Saffron Turnell, inspector at the Health and Safety Executive, observed this incident occurred because the man was asked to complete a task outside of his normal duties that he had no prior knowledge of.
