Slipping and tripping claims to be made 2231

Compensation claims could be made by members of staff at a laundry company in London on the grounds of slipping and tripping after the findings of an investigation were revealed.

Numerous inspections of premises owned by Sunbeam Laundry - which was founded in 1992 - in the Battersea region of the capital by the Health and Safety Executive found that employees were routinely forced to operate in dangerous conditions.

It was revealed that workers there had to carry heavy loads of washing through blocked walkways and aisles at the shop, meaning instances of slipping and tripping may have occurred.

Despite the fact that two warnings were issued to managers there that this needed to change sooner rather than later, nothing was done, meaning the firm has been fined £2,000.

During a case heard at the City of London Magistrates' Court, the organisation admitted breaching Section 33 (1)(g) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
