A trip and fall accident on holiday caused a man from Leek in Staffordshire to suffer serious head injuries.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, Chris Brown tripped and fell over while walking his dog near the South Pier in Blackpool and was left unconscious with fractures to his skull and eye socket after landing head first on concrete steps.
Mr Brown claims he lost his footing due to the presence of dangerous levels of algae on the surface he was walking on.
"The tide had just gone out and I was walking down the steps and the next thing I know I'm waking up with a crowd around me ... it was pretty frightening," he told the Gazette.
The 55-year-old man is claiming compensation for his head injuries from Blackpool Council because of the extent of his injuries, and the time that he has had to take off from work.
